It effects up to 11% of women, yet it's not well understood or recognised and is frequently misdiagnosed as obesity. The condition is often painful and can be disabling if allowed to progress. |
Phlebo-lymphoedema
Phlebo-lymphoedema, AKA venous oedema is caused by Chronic Venous Insufficiency.
CVI occurs when the veins in the legs aren't able to return blood to the heart as the one way valves stop working properly and blood back flows and pools in the legs. This can lead to ulcers and swelling and overwhelms the lymphatic system. |
